Wow, what a morning! Mimi was kind of hyper, and was asking me to let her out (in retrospect I should have noticed this was a different kind of hyper...). So, I obliged. As soon as I opened the bedroom window, she was out in a flash and I saw a giant raccoon right outside the window! Holy crap. She immediately ran at it and bam, bam, bam, bam with the right paw, then bam, bam with the left... The raccoon cowered and backed up a few feet (the raccoon was about three times Mimi's size, but was being submissive and shrinking up while she became huge and dominant). Mimi stared it down for a couple seconds, then charge!!! More bam, bam, bamming it!! She pummeled it all the way down the deck until it was hiding under a small table in the corner outside the kitchen. While she was staring it down, it jumped up on to the deck railing, got extra small, and put its head down on its front paws (trying to be cute and little). She kept staring and holding her ground. She wanted the f'er gone. This whole time I'm dying and want to help, but our deck door is sealed shut (door is broken) and I tried to get out the window but was afraid I was going to break it.... I felt so helpless. Thank goodness Mimi is such a bad-ass! I kept calling her and finally she started to head back toward the bedroom and the raccoon, no idiot apparently, took that split second to jump off the deck. Mimi, of course, noticed, and ran after it chasing it down the hill in the backyard. I ran outside and managed to get her after a few minutes with the aid of food. After inspection, she doesn't have a scratch on her and she was acting very proud and sassy. Needless to say, taking a cue from Safety Patrol Lala, she is in for the day!
